More Than Just Food

Our relationship with food begins long before we make our first food choice. It begins in relationship.

As a survivor of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), our founder, Stefanie Sacks, MS, CNS, CDN, understands both personally and professionally that where dis-ease exists, there's often a deeper story. Her work is grounded in the understanding that food is never just about food—it is shaped by our earliest experiences of safety, connection, and care.

Research shows that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can:

  • Disrupt healthy brain development and the body's stress response

  • Increase the risk of chronic illness, mental health challenges, and substance use

  • Interfere with a child's sense of safety and secure attachment

  • Influence early feeding relationships and experiences with nourishment

  • Shape how we relate to food, our bodies, and self-care throughout life

Understanding these connections isn't about assigning blame. It's about creating awareness. When we recognize the experiences that shaped our relationship with food, we can begin to reshape it—with greater understanding, compassion, and intention.
